As you know, when the City committed to JJManning Auctioneers to auction by absolute auction the longtime vacant inn it was with some apprehension.  The years that the inn had been closed and without significant maintenance prior to the City’s ownership had taken its toll on the property.  The City’s own 3-year effort to find a developer for the property didn’t work out as we had hoped leading us to consider selling the property by auction.  We had some successes selling properties by city run auctions in the past but after interviewing several auctioneers we determined that given its historic nature and declining condition our best option was to sell the inn by absolute auction using the services of JJManning Auctioneers.  Although our expectations for a successful sale were not as optimistic as yours it turned out that the property sold for a price higher than what we had anticipated and to a responsible bidder.  I am pleased to report that the Inn is on the tax rolls and the owners have started rehabilitating it.  And, I am convinced that your marketing campaign, particularly your internet network and mailing list, played a major role in attracting interested bidders.
